An Interview with Flaco Jiménez
Never before seen!
Flaco Jiménez pushed boundaries and shredded the accordion while honoring his true musical roots. He will always be the rockstar of San Antone to me.
I got to hang and jam with him a few times. And with his recent passing, I was reminded of a conversation we filmed a few years ago that was never released.
I had this idea to start a podcast called Parallel Vibes. The concept was pretty simple: meet up with cool music people and talk about what it means to be a “lifer”. I ended up interviewing some very cool music lifers, but then i got distracted with my own music and the project kinda got shelved. But I’ve decided I’m gonna release all three episodes in the coming weeks. why not?
Episode 1 took place in April 2023 at Flaco’s house in South San Antone. It was about a week before he played a legendary show w/ Augie Meyers and the Texmaniacs at the Lonesome Rose. This interview didn’t really have anything to do with that concert, but Flaco kinda treated it like it was a promotional radio feature. We had fun hanging out.
RIP Flaco Jiménez. The coolest of the cool and a San Antone to the bone legend. Stay humble my fooz!
